stunning places I’ve been

P1010572

I was thinking about passion the other day after having watched a show on TV and was wondering if I have any real passion at all in my life. I mean, I love a lot of stuff, fashion, cooking, decorating but I wouldn’t call it a “passion” so I kept having this thought in my mind… It took me a few days to realize that I do have one thing that I can call passion, one thing I’ve always had ever since I can remember, one truly inspiring passion: traveling.

Funny I didn’t think about it immediately (I have been a flight attendant after all and traveling on an almost daily basis was my job!) but I guess I didn’t realize because I am blessed enough to still be able to travel a lot (and to live in Europe where you can change country, culture and language within one hour flight). I decided to share some of my favorite places in the world with you because I am thankful for having seen all these wonderful places…

KOH PHI PHI, Thailand

Phi Phi Island is a great holiday escape only accessible by ferry from Phuket, car-free with an amazing nature and great (GREAT!) cocktails massages on white sandy beaches…

TOKYO, Japan

Ah Tokyo… I remember how I felt the very first time I landed in Narita (Tokyo’s biggest airport), it was like being on another planet. And then I met people and was lucky enough to be able to stay at a friend’s every time I was in Japan and traveled the country (Kyoto, Osaka, Kamakura, Mt-Fuji)… I really want to go back on day and have great memories there.

THE MALDIVES

When you are on the Maldives, you feel like paradise on earth does exist. It is like being in a gigantic aquarium where you can see baby-sharks, sting rays and parrot fishes swimming in the laguna on your way to breakfast. This is where I did my diving certificate, truly amazing…

ATACAMA DESERT, CHILE

DSC04003

The Atacama desert is probably the place I’ve visited that shook me the most, it was an unbelievable experience and I keep talking about it a lot. It has to do with the energy, the stories you hear about the desert, San Pedro de Atacama is a small village with on-off electricity (actually really funny when it happens for city gals like me using to be surrounded by technology all the time) located at 3800m over the sea and an unbelievable vibe. It is the only place I have been where I truly felt the energy of nature and walking back to the lodge under the Milky way every night remains one of the best moments of my life…

TULUM, Mexico

IMG_7925

I love Mexico, I wrote about my last holidays here and here… Tulum is probably the most beautiful beach I have ever been and the combo live-music-beef-fajitas-on-the-beach made it one of the best holidays I’ve had.

CAPETOWN, South Africa

Here goes another destination I write about a lot… South Africa. This is where I celebrate my 30th birthday (picture below – reminds me I’m getting old…). I love Capetown and its surroundings, there’s something very true, very open and very magnificent about this country and I truly love it.

mexican holidays : part 2

IMG_7902

We took a day trip to Tulum as it is only 40 minutes away from Playa del Carmen and I must say that this was one of the most beautiful beach I have ever seen. Tulum is famous for it’s Mayan ruins overlooking the sea (always very crowded but really worth a visit).

IMG_7924While we were on the beach, we had one of the best fajitas I ever had (I love Mexican food). I found this recipe that you can follow…

There is a beach access from the ruins but as it is seriously overcrowded, we decided to exit and after only 10 minutes walk, you arrive to the public beach that was almost empty. There are small bars were you can buy drinks and food while bands are playing live music.

This was one of the most beautiful days. I really love Mexico and I really want to go back and drive around Yucatan a bit. Mexicans are genuinely nice, I always felt safe and to me, it is one of the coolest holiday destinations…
