Happy Friday people! I’m back in Florida for a couple of days to photograph our new fall/winter collection before traveling back to Europe. A bit exhausted but really happy about all the positive feedbacks we got from our clients in New York!

This week was pretty intense. I got operated on Tuesday (nothing serious but still had to stay in hospital for 2 days) and this was a brand new experience for me… I thought it would be worse actually and the fact that I had to look at some of my fears (needles, hospital) in the eye will certainly help me feel more strong once I completely recover!

Here are 3 things making me happy…

Being Swiss and knowing what it means when summer can only last 3 weeks depending on the year, I am outside whenever the sun is shining. It doesn’t really matter how big your outdoor space is, what’s important is to create a cosy and relaxed atmosphere to chill and have a drink in the evening or during the weekends. Here are some of my favorites…

mojito popsicles by french by design

Is there anything better than a popsicle with alcohol in the summer?! I found this great recipe on French by DesignFrench by Design

What you need :

  • 3/4 cup of water
  • 1/2 cup of granulated sugar
  • 2/3 cup of lime juice
  • 2/3 cup of soda water
  • 1/2 cup of fresh mint leaves
  • 3 tablespoons of white rum
  • a few slices of lime to decorate your popsicle – optional

Steps :

  • In a small saucepan, bring water and sugar to boil, mix well, until sugar is completely dissolved.
  • Pour mixture in a blender, then add the rum, the mint leaves, soda water, lime juice.
  • Pour the mixture in a popsicle mold. Add the optional sliced pieces of lime to decorate. Don’t forget to insert the popsicle sticks!
  • Let in the freezer for 8 to 10 hours.

I tried this super easy recipe a couple of weeks ago. It is one of these great ones that is done in no time and looks like you spent 6 hours in the kitchen…

Mini Rose apple pies

You will need (for about 7-8 mini-pies)

1 roll of puff pastry

5-6 apples (thinly sliced)

1/2 a lemon juice

salted caramel sauce (I was lazy so I used the one I get in France in a tube… you can also use regular caramel sauce)

muffin tins

 

Start by tossing the apple slices in the lemon juice (this will prevent them to turn brown), set aside.

Cut your puff pastry into 6-7cm strips. Place the apple slices (overlapping each other) and roll. Place the little pies into the muffin tin to keep it tight.

Place in the lower part of your oven and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.

Sprinkle with powder sugar et voilà!
