mexican holidays : part 1

I had already been to Yucatan twice (on the island of Cozumel to be precise) and I was really looking forward to go back. My friend S. (who celebrated her 40th birthday while we were there) found this amazing hotel in Playa del Carmen where we shared a beautiful apartment with friends.

We didn’t do much the first days… but I really needed this time off to relax. I walked on the beach for hours, did some shopping (jewelery and cool Frida Kahlo bags) and we went out dancing almost every night (knowing that we could rest on the beach the day after certainly boosted us…)

On Tuesday we decided it was time to actually do something so we booked a day on a catamaran just the 6 of us and we had a blast! We drove to Cancun and took the boat from there, crossing to Isla Mujeres one of the most beautiful places I’ve seen (and I’ve traveled quite a bit). The water looked like a swimming pool, the weather was perfect, we snorkeled, had cocktails on the deck and lunch on the beach…

I can honestly say that this was one of the best days I’ve had. We had so much fun and it made me realize how beautiful life can be!

Mayan ruins in Tulum, how to make fajitas and why there is nothing better than a fresh bottle of Corona on the beach next week…
